CLID Entries - SSR CLID Entries for the Trade

A single SSR CLID entry needs to be added to the PNR for each participating airline (BA, IB or AA) in the itinerary.

If SR CLID CX entered it will either error at time of entry (if CX does not have bilateral agreement for use of SSR CLID with the booking GDS) or be rejected/ignored by Carrier CX as information is irrelevant to them.

Note: In all examples below OB12345678 = the On Business Membership Number. The format will always be OB followed by 8 numerical characters.

About On Business

What is the On Business programme about?

On Business is a global loyalty programme created for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs). The programme runs across British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia; giving its members the opportunity to:

  1. Collect On Business Points which can be used for Reward Flights or Cabin Upgrades
  2. Access Member only discounts
  3. Benefit from an extensive choice of flights, schedules and destinations across all three airlines.

Can I collect points on my frequent flyer programme (such as Avios as a Member of the Executive Club), as well as On Business Points?

Yes. You and other Company travellers can collect Avios for individual use and On Business Points for the Company simultaneously. Just make sure to insert both airline frequent flyer number as well as Company's On Business membership number when making a booking.

What are the benefits of On Business?

We offer benefits that are real and relevant to you and your business. When flying on an Eligible Flight, you can earn On Business Points or access discounts.

Points can be spent across the British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia network on either Reward Flights or Cabin Upgrades*.

How many On Business tiers are there?

On Business has three tiers. Once a Member, you will automatically enter Tier On1 and progress through to tiers On2 and On3 as you spend more on company travel – based on the amount you spend on Eligible Fare + Carrier imposed charge / fuel in a year. As your Company progresses through the tiers, the points earning rate is boosted.

How quickly can a Member progress to the next tier?

If the spend needed to move up to On2 is achieved before the end of the year, Members move up straight away – remaining in this tier for the rest of the current and next calendar year. (The same principles apply for progression from On2 to On3)

If the spend is decreased in one year – Members moves down a tier with the start of the new calendar year.

How is my Company's On Business tier calculated?

Your tier is based on the amount your Company has spent on travel in one year with On Business.

Can I track my Company's earning & spending through the On Business programme?

The Company Authoriser, Programme Administrators and Nominated Travel Agents can access custom reporting giving your Company an overview of all travel spend, points balance and redemption reporting.

Earning On Business Points

How does my Company earn On Business Points?

show

Just make sure every Company employee enters the Company's On Business membership number (in a format: ‘OB12345678') when booking an Eligible Flight. Alternatively, give it to a Nominated Travel Agent, so that your Company can collect On Business Points.

Which airlines can I earn On Business Points on?

show

You can earn On Business Points on qualifying flights with American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia and all eligible partners. The eligible partners include BA CityFlyer, Air Nostrum, Comair, Sunair and Iberia Express. British Airways marketed routes operated by Japan Airline, Qantas and Qatar Airways are also eligible.

  • Marketed' means the flight will have a British Airways flight number (in your itinerary or on your ticket).
  • 'Operated' means the aircraft that you travel on is a British Airways aircraft (including franchises and BA CityFlyer).

Which fares are eligible for earning On Business Points?

All published fares booked on eligible airlines, ticketed on American Airlines (001), British Airways (125), and Iberia (075) ticket stock are eligible to earn On Business Points.

Reward Flights, group bookings, agency or industry discounted tickets and any other fares that have already been discounted, are not eligible to earn On Business Points.

Do I have to be a Member of a frequent flyer programme and On Business?

No. You can participate in the On Business programme without joining a frequent flyer programme. However, you by joining a frequent flyer programme you can earn points for yourself which will give you a number of rewards as a traveller.

Joining the British Airways Executive Club is free and besides collecting Avios and accessing exclusive benefits as you move up the tiers, you will also advance oneworld® tier status and access a wider range of benefits when travelling on eligible flights throughout the oneworld® alliance network. Remember: All Company employees travelling for business can start earning Avios for themselves as well as On Business Points for the Company.

How do I manage my Avios?

You need to be a Member of the British Airways Executive Club or Iberia Plus to collect and spend Avios.

How are On Business Points calculated?

show

The points you earn are based on the amount of money spent on Fare + Carrier imposed charge / fuel and your tier level. The earn rate is at least 1 point for every £1 / €1 / $1.

Once you've joined, you'll automatically enter tier On1 and progress through to tiers On2 and On3 as you spend more on company travel. The higher the tier the more points you earn.

When are On Business Points awarded?

Once you have completed your journey, we will award points for qualifying flights within 14 days.

Can I claim On Business Points retrospectively?

show

Yes, you can. If you've already flown as an On Business Member, you can claim for flights up to four months after the date of travel. This does not apply to flights completed pre-enrolment.

To claim missing points, get in touch with our Contact Centres or fill out a missing points claim form via your member account.

Are there any other ways to collect On Business Points?

Yes. Members can also collect On Business Points by utilising the British Airways American Express® Corporate Card or Corporate Card Plus. Find out more

Do my Company's On Business Points expire?

Yes, they do. On Business Points are valid from the time they appear on the account until the end of two calendar years.

Example: The On Business Points accumulated by completing Eligible Flight in 2018 (whether its January or December), will expire at the end of December 2020.

Discounts

What types of discount can I get on flights booked through On Business?

show

By joining On Business, you will have access to Member only discounts on many of our worldwide flights of at least 5% off the fare (excluding taxes, fees and carrier charges).

Can I collect On Business Points on discounted flights?

show

No. you can either get a discount or choose to collect On Business points, not both.

You will be asked to choose the type of booking you want to make before you search for flights, i.e. standard prices which earn you On Business Points or discounted prices which don't.

Can I combine a discounted flight with a non-discounted flight in one itinerary/booking and still earn On Business Points?

No, you would not earn On Business Points on any booking where a discount has been applied. For full details on which fares are eligible, please refer to full Terms and Conditions.

What are my Company's On Business Points worth?

You can use the Points calculator to find out how much you need for any destination.

Example: To book a return Reward Flight from London (LHR) to New York (JFK) in economy (World Traveller), you need 9,000 On Business Points.

Based on your tier, this is what you would need to spend to earn 9,000 On Business Points:

Tier On1: £9,000     Tier On2: £7,200     Tier On3: £6,000

When can I start spending On Business Points?

You can start redeeming your On Business Points once you have enough in your account to purchase a Reward Flight or a Cabin Upgrade.

How can the Company spend the accrued On Business Points?

The Company Authoriser, Programme Administrators and Nominated Travel Agents can redeem points through the Company's Member account for:

  • Reward Flights (available on American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia)
  • Cabin Upgrades (available on British Airways and Iberia)

The On Business Points can be redeemed for the Company's employees, their employees' family members as well as consultants or contractors (where the consultant or contractor is directly contracted to the On Business Company).

What is a Reward Flight?

A Reward Flight is a flight available on American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia purchased with On Business Points. It consists of:

  • An On Business Points amount
  • Taxes, fees and carrier charges, which must be paid

Can I make a last-minute Reward Flight booking or make changes to a Reward Flight?

Yes, you can. Flights can be booked up to one day before travel.

Changes to date and time must be done at least 24hrs before the first Reward Flight with no extra cost for making date and time changes on ba.com. Changes done offline through Contact Centre or Airport Ticket Office may be charged a fee. Visit Global service fee page for more information.

Which airlines support Cabin Upgrades?

Cabin Upgrades are available on British Airways and Iberia. You can apply a Cabin Upgrade at the time of your booking or once the booking is made. This applies to both direct bookings and bookings through your Travel Management Company.

Can I spend On Business Points on lounge access or to choose a seat?

No, you can't at the moment. However, everyone within your Company who travels for business can earn On Business Points for the Company as well as Avios for themselves by joining British Airways Executive Club. Avios can be used to choose a seat.

Your offers will be based on relevance and not just frequency. You can view all offers relevant to you in the Member portal

Does my Company need to register for each On Business offer?

Some offers will require you to register your interest to participate. This will help us to understand which offers appeal to you, so that we can provide more relevant offers in the future.

Roles within On Business Membership

What account roles are there?

show

The account role determines which privileges an individual is assigned and therefore which features of the On Business programme they can access.

For a Company to join On Business, an account must have an Authoriser, the other roles are all optional. The table below describes all the roles and their capabilities.

You can log in by entering your Username (Unique Login ID) and password.

Forgotten or lost login details

show

Forgotten username: A unique username has been generated and shared in the first On Business communication received after registering.

Please contact your Programme Administrator or your local On Business call centre on 0344 493 0748. They will be able to provide you with your On Business username.

Forgotten password:

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Click on the ‘Forgotten your password' link.
  3. Enter your username
  4. Click ‘Submit'.

We will then send you an email with instructions on how to reset your password. For quick access to submitting forgotten password request.

Managing the Primary Contact

The Primary Contact will be main contact for any issues relating to the Company's On Business account. If we need to speak to your Company this is the person we will contact.

For setting the Primary Contact:

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Go to Company account > Primary contact
  3. Click Change contact and select a person from the list of participants displayed
  4. Click Save

Updating participant's details

For updating Company Authoriser / Traveller:

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Go to Company account > Participants
  3. Select a participant from the list of programme participants > click on the person
  4. Click Update details
  5. Click Save changes

For updating Nominated Travel Agent:

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Go to Company account > Nominated Travel Agents
  3. Click View/edit > click Edit details
  4. Click Save

Adding a new participant into the Company account

For adding Company Authoriser / Traveller:

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Go to Company account > Participants
  3. Click Add a new participant
  4. Assign specific role through Account role (Company Administrator, Traveller)

Note: When adding a new person to your On Business account, you will be presented with the option to assign their role. Only the current Company Authoriser has the permission to assign /change the person acting as the Company Authoriser.

For adding a new Nominated Travel Agent:

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Go to Company account > Nominated Travel Agents
  3. Click Add a new travel agent

Assigning new status to an existing programme participant

To change an existing participant's account role:

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Go to Company account > Participants
  3. Select a participant from the list of programme participants > click on the person
  4. Click Update details
  5. Assign new role in ‘Account role' section
  6. Click Save changes

Removing a participant

For removing Company Administrator / Traveller:

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Go to Company account > Participants
  3. Select a participant from the list of programme participants > click on the person
  4. Click Delete participant
  5. Click Confirm

For removing Nominated Travel Agent:

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Go to Company account > Nominated Travel Agents
  3. Click Bin icon
  4. Click Confirm

Managing Separate Business Units (SBU)

Creating business units allows you to track points and travel spend by department or cost centre. Any programme participant or transaction made within your On Business Company account can be assigned to a business unit you have created.

Note: Any participants already assigned to the deleted business unit will no longer belong to a business unit.

Points and transactions

How can I track individual and Company earnings and spending?

To view all your Company account spending and earning activity:

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Go to Points and transactions > Transactions statement

Here you can view all Company transactions or choose to filter transactions by any combination of date, business unit, person's name, booking reference and type of transaction.

Note: Transactions may take up to 10 days to appear on your statement, while transactions from our partners may take longer.

How do I generate a report of all my Company's On Business transactions?

You can create PDF or Excel reports of your Company transactions within your Member Account.

  1. Log in to your On Business account
  2. Go to Points and transactions > Transactions statement
  3. Click on the Download icondownload icon

Use the date range selector and / or custom search filters to download custom reports that match only the date, business unit, name, booking reference or type of transaction criteria you set.

My Company is missing On Business Points. How can I claim for these?

You can claim for flights up to four months after the date of travel. To claim missing points, get in touch with our customer support team or fill out a missing points claim form via your member account.

  2. Go to Points and transactions > Claim missing points > Claim form

I believe my Company has been awarded an incorrect number of On Business Points. How can I have this corrected?
